The Premier League is an English professional league for association soccer clubs. At the top of the Enlgish football laegue system, it is the countrys primary football tounament. It involvoes 20 clubs and it operates on a system of promotion and regulation with the football league.

The premier league is a corporation where the 20 member clubs act as shareholders. The Season runs from August to May, with teams playing 38 games each totalling 380 games in the full season. The League is sponsored by Barclays Bank so is therefore officially known as the Barclays Premier League. In the League, the games are played on Saturdays and Sundays with only a few games being played on the weekdays .

Overall, 43 clubs have competed in the Premier League, but only four have ever won the title. They are: Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal and Chelsea. The current champions are Manchester United who are pictured above. It was their eleventh Premier League title and they won it in the 2008-09 season, more than any other team ever competed in the Premier League. Chelsea currently hold the record for most points in a season, while Arsenal are the only team in the history of the Premier League to go unbeaten in a full season. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are known as the big four in the Premier league, even though Liverpool have never won.
